June 2, 2007: Pivot was a success at the 23rd Hamburg International Short Film Festival. It was the |
only Canadian film chosen for the International Competition this year. All three screenings |
took place in funky theatres and the feedback was very enthusiastic. The audiences |
even laughed at my jokes. Other films in the program, entitled "Drudgery" (I think it |
misses something in translation) were excellent, and one, The Tube With a Hat, |
even won the competition. |
Festival after-parties were held in the "Media Bunker," an actual WWII bunker. Cool |
music, cool people, cheap (by Canadian standards) beer... I shall return! |
Many, many thanks to Christian, Myriam, Sarah and Sasha for putting me up in |
their flat and showing me the time of my life in Hamburg. You always have a place |
to stay in Canada. |
